The Men's Room 11 - Images of Men & Masculinity in Film & TV

An interesting video clip from what appears to be some form of "cable access" show for men. Nice concept.

This episode talks about how men and masculinity are portrayed in film and television - and how those images shape the way men think of themselves. The portrayal has changed quite a bit over the years, and not always for the better.

I'm not down with all their assertions, but I certainly support this kind of discussion. It's about time men talk about what it means to be a man, and how stereotypes limit us.
Filmmaker & film studies professor Larry Benequist stops by to talk about men in movies & TV, including The Sands of Iwo Jima, Rebel Without a Cause, Casablanca, Rio Bravo, To Have and Have Not, High Noon, Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose, Tight Rope, Cop Land, Happy Days, XXX, The Fast and the Furious, White Heat, Kojack, Platoon, Father Knows Best, The Simpsons, Boondocks, and The Groomsman.
